Marco Burresi, nato a Firenze nel 1977, è cresciuto e vive a Certaldo; si è diplomato all’Istituto di Grafica Pubblicitaria. Inizia a dipingere in strada da adolescente realizzando il suo primo graffito nel 1992 a Viareggio dove entra a far parte della crew KNM, un gruppo di amici e giovani writers che ha animato la scena di quegli anni partecipando attivamente a Panico Totale. Zed1 sviluppa così una propria ricerca e illustrazione, creando un immaginario personale con ambientazioni surreali e fiabesche abitate da animali antropomorfi, burattini, bambole, figure circensi e dalla letteratura fantastica.           
L’artista raffigura sul palcoscenico delle proprie opere il teatrino della vita: i suoi personaggi tratti dal mondo dell’infanzia mostrano dietro a un’apparentemente innocenza aspetti meno rassicuranti e a tratti grotteschi, raccontando di un mondo più adulto e reale. Questo cortocircuito visivo, malinconico e talvolta terribilmente ironico, ci svela le nostre fragilità e quelle di un mondo costantemente in bilico astenendosi dall’imporre soluzioni definitive e suscitando nello spettatore una riflessione interiore. 
Negli ultimi anni Zed1 ha sviluppato la tecnica del Second Skin che ha permesso di spingere l’interazione con il pubblico dalla sfera intima al gesto collettivo: applica a un murale permanente un ulteriore strato, una seconda pelle, che col passare del tempo e grazie all’intervento dei passanti o agli agenti atmosferici, si perde rivelando, insieme al dipinto originale sottostante, nuovi e imprevisti significati.

Zed1 thus develops its own research and illustration, creating a personal imagination with surreal and fairy-tale settings inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, puppets, dolls, circus figures and fantastic literature. The artist depicts the theater of life on the stage of his works: his characters drawn from the world of childhood show less reassuring and sometimes grotesque aspects behind an apparently innocence, telling of a more adult and real world. This melancholic and sometimes terribly ironic visual short-circuit reveals our frailties and those of a constantly poised world, refraining from imposing definitive solutions and arousing inner reflection in the viewer.    
In recent years Zed1 has developed the Second Skin technique which has allowed to push the interaction with the public from the intimate sphere to the collective gesture: it applies an additional layer to a permanent mural, a second skin, which over time and thanks to the intervention by passers-by or to atmospheric agents, is lost revealing, together with the original painting below, new and unexpected meanings.
